This paper presents a new type of synchronous reluctance motor topology that integrates permanent magnets in a non-conventional arrangement to boost magnetic flux. The combination of SynRM and PMs provides an efficient solution for a wide range of applications, including fans and pumps. The design of the PM and the external and internal flux barriers is an essential challenge for this type of motor. The proposed Line start-flux intensifying-PMaSynRM (LS-FI-PMaSynRM), which embeds PMs in the rotor, operates on the d-axis rather than the q-axis, as in conventional PMaSynRM. The proposed design also has a starting capability. An embedded conductor bar in the rotor reduces torque pulsations and improves dynamic response during start conditions. Analyzing the proposed design for the increment of the torque output with PM while keeping the lowest possible torque ripple. The finite-element analysis (FEA) is considered to validate the proposed motor and analyses, and the results demonstrate their advantages.
